Sluis
The region's diversity means that it can offer the following: authentic villages with character, wide sandy beaches, natural dunes, an expansive polder landscape full of variety, and a broad range of events and places of interest.
The municipality of Sluis has seventien dynamic places: Aardenburg, Breskens, Cadzand-Bad, Cadzand-Dorp, Eede, Groede, Hoofdplaat, Nieuwvliet-Bad, Nieuwvliet-Dorp, Oostburg, Retranchement, Schoondijke, Sint Kruis, Sluis, Waterlandkerkje, IJzendijke and Zuidzande. More than 24,000 people live here in total.
Millions of day trippers and holidaymakers visit the well-known fortified town of Sluis, the regional centre of Oostburg and the seaside resorts of Cadzand-Bad and Breskens every year to enjoy the cheerful outdoor bars and cafés and the local specialities.
Mother Nature has been very generous to West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. The area includes, for instance, the unique nature reserves Het Zwin and Verdronken Zwarte Polder (the 'Drowned Black Polder'), and extensive polders.
The municipality has business parks with excellent facilities, each of which has its own character. Due to the constant demand for commercial land, preparations are underway for the expansion of all those sites.
