Location, Infrastructure and Distances

The Province of Zeeland is situated in the southwest of the Netherlands, south of the River Rhine and the River Maas (in French: Meuse). The River Scheldt also has its estuary in this region. This perfect location in Northern Europe, between the international ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp, provides an ideal basis for economic activity. Zeeland is also called the Delta of Northwest Europe, with excellent links with the hinterland. All this explains why many companies have already found their way to Zeeland.  Here you will also still find space for your business.

The province consists of a number of peninsulas and a strip of mainland along the Belgian border. The infrastructure with the hinterland and between the different peninsulas and the hinterland is excellent. There is a well-maintained network of roads, bridges and tunnels. Car and lorry traffic can count on roads without any holdups in Zeeland. The province also has excellent public transport by bus and train. Goods transport by rail is also possible in Zeeland, via the improved Sloe Line to the port of Vlissingen.

The most important roads are the A58 motorway that runs from east to west and links up with the A4 and A16, which run from Rotterdam to Antwerp, and the north to south link roads N62/N57 and N256/N59. The railway links run from the ports of Vlissingen and Terneuzen to the hinterland. Transport on water is possible throughout the province via the De Grevelingen, Eastern Scheldt and Western Scheldt arms, Veerse Meer, the Canal from Ghent to Terneuzen, the Canal through Walcheren, the Canal through South Beveland and the Scheldt-Rhine Canal.  Sea-going vessels with a depth of as much as 16 metres can berth in the ports of Vlissingen and Terneuzen.
